Products: Ejection Material – Dura-Strip
Dura-Strip is a micro-cellular elastomer that was originally designed for the most demanding automotive and truck applications. The same characteristics that make Dura-Strip suitable for these heavy duty applications make it an excellent die ejection material. The benefits of Dura-Strip are:
■ Highly Stable
■ Durable
■ Stands Up to Heat
■ Consistent
It is Dura-Strip’s low transverse expansion feature that makes it suitable for slot and punch ejection. Figure A shows how normal closed cellular rubber expands laterally under pressure. Given the same pressure, Dura-Strip will behave more like a spring. By reducing the lateral expansion, Dura-Strip will reduce rule cracks in the slot which cause scrap to build up.
Dura-Strip is available for slots, as trim breaker rubber, and for punch ejectors. It is a proven product that has been successfully used in both rotary and flat dies to solve many of the problems associated with conventional closed cell rubber.
Also available:
■ Large Sizes
■ Metric Sizes
■ Punch Ejectors
Dura-Strip is a photo-sensitive product that gradually turns from almost white to rust colored. Though the appearance changes substantially over time, no other physical properties change. Dura-Strip does not shrink or get harder as it ages despite the color change.
